Glorious Factions — Terms of Service
Draft — for legal review Last updated: [DATE]
In short. These Terms are the agreement between you and Ananta Studios, the company that runs Glorious Factions. You must be at least 16 to play. The game is free; you can choose to buy the premium currency, Sidereals, under our Purchase Terms. Some worlds include computer-controlled players that play by the same rules as you and are not individually labelled — see section 2. Play fairly under the Game Rules, or we may restrict or close your account. Worlds open, run and end, and an empire left inactive is abandoned. If you live in the US or Canada (outside Quebec), disputes go to individual arbitration unless you opt out within 30 days (section 20). If you live in the EU/EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Quebec, you keep all the consumer rights and home courts your local law gives you. How we handle your data is explained in the Privacy Policy and the Cookie and Storage Notice. Who we are and how to reach us is in the Legal Notice.

1. About these Terms
1.1 Who we are. Glorious Factions (the "game") is operated by Ananta Studios, a subsidiary of RLM Global, registered at [ADDRESS], registration number [REGISTRATION] ("we", "us", "our"). Full company and contact details are in the Legal Notice.
1.2 What these Terms cover. These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to your use of the game, the website at https://gloriousfactions.com, your player account, in-game chat, mail and alliance boards, and any related services we provide (together, the "service").
1.3 Other documents that form part of this agreement.
- the Purchase Terms — buying Sidereals, shop items and advisor plans, refunds and withdrawal rights;
- the Game Rules — the code of conduct, community guidelines and sanctions scale;
- the ruleset and notices published for each world (see section 7).
Where a document listed above deals with a topic in more detail, it applies to that topic. If there is a conflict, these Terms win, except that the Purchase Terms win on purchases.
1.4 Privacy. The Privacy Policy and the Cookie and Storage Notice explain how we use personal data and browser storage. They are information notices, not contract terms.
1.5 Accepting these Terms. You accept these Terms by ticking the box at sign-up confirming that you are 16 or older and accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy, or by using the service. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the service.
1.6 Consumers. Some sections apply differently depending on where you live. Where a section refers to "EU/UK consumers", it means players who use the service mainly for personal purposes and live in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. Nothing in these Terms takes away rights that the consumer law of your country gives you and that cannot be waived by contract.
2. Computer-controlled players
2.1 What they are. Worlds in Glorious Factions may include computer-controlled players — rival empires run by our software rather than by a person. They are part of the game's design: they keep worlds active, give new players opponents and allies, and fill out the map.
2.2 They are not individually marked. A computer-controlled player looks like any other player in the world. Its empire, cities, alliance and messages are not labelled as computer-controlled, and we will not tell you which specific players are computer-controlled.
2.3 Where we tell you. Each world tells you whether it includes computer-controlled players, in the world information and in the world picker you see before you join. If a world adds or removes them while it is running, we will update that notice.
2.4 Our commitments. Computer-controlled players are subject to these limits, which we commit to as part of this agreement:
- Same rules. They act only through the normal game rules and actions available to every player. They get no hidden resources, no extra speed, and no rule exceptions.
- Same information. They see only what any player in their position could see in the game. They do not read private messages, other players' hidden data or anything outside the game.
- No selling. They never buy anything, never spend or hold premium currency, and never mention, recommend or encourage purchases, Sidereals or any other premium offer.
- Rule-based, not generative. Their behaviour is rule-based. They do not use generative artificial intelligence (for example, large language models) to write messages or decide what to do.
- Never claim to be human. They will never claim to be a person. If you ask a computer-controlled player whether it is human, it will not say yes. [CONFIRM IMPLEMENTATION: e.g. it does not answer, or answers that it cannot say.]
- Only game state. They process only game data. They do not collect or use your personal data beyond the in-game actions any player could observe. See the Privacy Policy.
2.5 What they may do. Within those limits they play like anyone else. They may found and grow cities, trade on the market, join, found and lead alliances, invite players to alliances, send in-game mail and chat messages written from fixed templates, and attack, siege and conquer other players' cities, including yours.
2.6 Rules apply to how you treat them too. The Game Rules apply to your interactions with any empire, whether or not you think it is computer-controlled. Cheating against, or harassing, a computer-controlled empire is still a breach.
3. Who can play
3.1 Minimum age. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use the service. If we learn that a player is under 16, we will close the account and delete its personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.
3.2 Players under the age of majority. If you are 16 or older but under the age of majority where you live (for example 18), you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms. You need their permission before buying anything.
3.3 Other conditions. You may not use the service if:
- we have previously closed an account of yours for a serious breach and have not agreed to let you return;
- you are barred from receiving the service under the laws that apply to you or to us, including trade sanctions and export controls; or
- you are located in a country or region where we do not offer the service [PLACEHOLDER: list, if any].
3.4 Personal use. The service is for personal, non-commercial entertainment. You may not use it for any business purpose, including advertising, selling services to other players, or paid account management.
4. Your licence to use the game
4.1 What we give you. While you keep to these Terms, we give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and play the game through a supported web browser, for your own non-commercial entertainment.
4.2 What we keep. The game and everything in it — software, code, servers, graphics, art, music, text, world maps, game mechanics, names, logos, and all virtual items, currencies, resources, troops, cities and other in-game content — belong to us or our licensors. You do not acquire ownership of any of it. Your account, empires and in-game content are licensed to you, not sold.
4.3 What you may not do. Unless the law expressly allows it, you may not:
- copy, modify, translate, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the game or its software, or try to derive its source code;
- access the service by any means other than the game's own interface, including through bots, scripts, scrapers, automated clients or modified clients (see the Game Rules);
- interfere with, overload or test the vulnerability of our servers, database, network or security measures;
- rent, sell, sublicense or commercially exploit the game or any part of it; or
- remove or alter any copyright, trademark or other notices.
4.4 Security research. If you find a security vulnerability, report it to legal@gloriousfactions.com and do not exploit it, share it or access other players' data. [PLACEHOLDER: link to a responsible disclosure policy, if adopted.]
4.5 Fan content. You may create non-commercial fan content (videos, streams, guides, fan art) using screenshots and footage of the game, as long as you do not suggest that we endorse it and you follow any fan content guidelines we publish [PLACEHOLDER: link]. We may withdraw this permission for specific content that damages the game or its players.
5. Your account
5.1 Registering. To play you need an account with a valid email address, a password and a username. You may also choose a ruler name. You must give accurate information and keep your email address up to date, because we use it for important notices.
5.2 One account per person. Each person may have one account. Each account may have one empire per world. Creating extra accounts to gain an advantage ("multi-accounting") breaks the Game Rules.
5.3 Keep it secure. You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for everything done through your account, unless it was done by someone who accessed it without your permission and you were not careless with your login details. Tell us straight away through the in-game Support panel or at support@gloriousfactions.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.
5.4 No sharing, selling or transferring. Your account is personal. You may not share your login details, let anyone else play your account (except through account sitting under section 6), or sell, buy, give away, trade or transfer an account, empire, city or any in-game content, whether for real money or anything else.
5.5 Names. Usernames, ruler names, city names, alliance names and alliance tags are visible to other players. They must not:
- be offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening or discriminatory;
- impersonate another person, a member of our staff or a moderator, or suggest an official role;
- infringe someone else's trademark, copyright or other rights; or
- contain personal data such as a real full name, address or phone number of you or anyone else, advertising, or links.
We may change or remove a name that breaks these rules, and may restrict name changes for an account that repeatedly does so. More detail is in the Game Rules.
5.6 Staff accounts. Our staff and moderators may play under ordinary accounts. When acting in an official role they use clearly identified staff accounts or markings. Staff playing privately get no advantage and follow the same rules.
6. Account sitting (substitution)
6.1 The only allowed way to let someone else play your empire is the game's built-in substitution feature. Through it, you can appoint a member of your alliance as a substitute ("sitter") who can manage your empire in a world, with limited rights, while you are away.
6.2 What a sitter can and cannot do. A sitter can only do what the feature allows, within the permissions you set. A sitter may run your construction, research and recruitment, move troops between your own cities, send defensive reinforcements to your cities or your alliance mates, and move or trade resources between your own cities. A sitter can never launch offensive troop movements against other players, send resources or goods outside your account (including market trades), buy anything with real money, change your account details, password or email, close or delete your account or empire, or appoint further sitters. A sitter may spend your Sidereals only if you expressly allow it in the substitution settings, and you may set an optional spending limit; every such spend is logged and shown to you. You must never give a sitter your password.
6.3 You stay responsible. You remain responsible for your account and for everything your sitter does in it. A breach of the Game Rules by your sitter may lead to sanctions against your account as well as the sitter's.
6.4 Activity. While a sitter is actively managing your empire through the feature, your empire counts as active for the inactivity rules in section 7. [CONFIRM: any maximum sitting period.]
6.5 Ending sitting. You can end a substitution at any time through the feature. We may end or limit substitution if we suspect it is being misused, for example to run several empires as one.
7. Worlds, inactivity and abandoned empires
7.1 Worlds. The game is played in separate persistent worlds. Each world opens, runs for a period and ends. Each world runs under a published ruleset (game version) and may have its own speed, settings and victory conditions, which are shown in the world information before you join. We may open new worlds and decide which worlds are open to new players.
7.2 How a world ends. A world may end when its victory conditions are met, at a closing date we announce, or as described in section 8. When a world ends, the empires, cities, troops, resources and other content in it end too. We may keep rankings, hall-of-fame entries or other records of the world.
7.3 Inactivity. If your empire in a world shows no activity for 30 days — or 20 days if your empire has not yet reached the title of Thane — it is abandoned. "Activity" means [CONFIRM DEFINITION: e.g. signing in to that world, or a sitter acting through the substitution feature]. When an empire is abandoned:
- its cities pass to the world as abandoned cities, which decay over time and can be taken by other players;
- the troops, resources and progress in those cities are no longer yours; and
- if you come back to that world, you restart there with one new city.
Abandonment affects only your empire in that world. Your account is not deleted. [PLACEHOLDER: we may send a reminder before an empire is abandoned.] Rules for deleting accounts that are inactive for a long time are in the Privacy Policy.
7.4 Purchases in a world. Some premium content is tied to one world, for example an advisor plan. What happens to it when an empire is abandoned or a world ends is set out in the Purchase Terms.
8. Changes to the game, maintenance and end of service
8.1 The game changes. Glorious Factions is a live online game that we keep developing. We may add, change, rebalance or remove features, content, rules, items and mechanics, introduce new rulesets, and reset or close worlds. We do this to improve the game, fix problems, keep it fair, respond to how players play, and comply with the law.
8.2 Changes to things you paid for. We will not make changes that substantially reduce the value of premium content you have already paid for and still hold without a valid reason, such as a security, legal, technical or game-balance reason. If a change has more than a minor negative effect on your access to or use of paid content, EU/UK consumers have the rights described in the Purchase Terms, including, where the law provides it, the right to end the contract for that content.
8.3 Maintenance. We may take the service offline for maintenance, updates and repairs. We try to schedule planned maintenance at quiet times and to announce it in advance in the game or on the website, but emergency maintenance may happen without notice.
8.4 Closing or resetting a world early. We may close or reset a world before its planned end if it can no longer be run properly — for example because too few players are active, because of serious bugs or exploits that cannot otherwise be fixed, or for legal or security reasons. We will give as much notice as is reasonably possible.
8.5 End of service. We may stop offering the game entirely. If we do, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email and in the game, except where we are forced to stop sooner for legal reasons or by events outside our control. What happens to unused Sidereals and other premium content is set out in the Purchase Terms.
9. Premium content
9.1 Free to play. You can play Glorious Factions without paying.
9.2 Sidereals and what they buy. You can buy Sidereals, the game's premium currency, with real money. Sidereals are account-wide and can be spent in the in-game shop on items (for example, protection items such as the Celestial Firmament) and on advisor plans, which are recurring plans for a specific world that can renew automatically from your Sidereals balance.
9.3 A licence, not property. Sidereals, items and plans are a limited licence to use certain game content. They have no value in real money, cannot be cashed out, and may not be transferred, exchanged, sold or traded outside the features the game provides. The same applies to any free in-game currencies, resources and rewards.
9.4 Purchase Terms. All purchases are covered by our Purchase Terms, which explain prices, delivery, auto-renewal and how to turn it off, refunds, the withdrawal right for EU/UK consumers, chargebacks and what happens at end of service. Purchases are final except where the law requires otherwise.
10. Rules of conduct
10.1 Play fair and be decent. You must follow the Game Rules. In summary, you must not:
- use bots, scripts, macros or other automation to play (the game's own advisor features are allowed);
- have more than one account, share your account outside substitution, or use extra accounts or referrals to gain an advantage;
- "push" or "feed" — move resources, troops or other value from one account to another unfairly;
- exploit bugs or glitches instead of reporting them;
- buy, sell or trade accounts, empires, items or resources for real money or anything outside the game;
- harass, threaten, bully or abuse other players, or post hateful, sexual, illegal or harmful content;
- spam, advertise, or share other people's personal data; or
- impersonate staff, or attack or disrupt the service.
10.2 Fair-play monitoring. To detect cheating, multi-accounting and pushing, the game records player actions, how many actions each account sends per hour, keyed hashes of the connection and browser used (never the address itself), and the flow of resources and value between accounts. The server also limits how many actions an account can send per minute and per hour. Staff review these records and may act on them. Automated tools may flag patterns, but decisions to sanction an account are taken by a person. See the Privacy Policy.
11. Your content
11.1 What counts as your content. "Your content" means anything you create or submit in the service: chat messages, in-game mail, alliance board and forum posts, names (usernames, ruler, city and alliance names and tags), alliance descriptions, support messages and similar material.
11.2 You keep your rights. You keep any rights you have in your content.
11.3 Licence to us. So that we can run the game, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display, transmit, moderate and delete your content as needed to operate, provide, secure and improve the service, and to show it to other players as the game intends. This licence ends when your content is deleted from the service, except for copies we must keep by law, copies in backups that are overwritten in the ordinary course, and content that other players have already received (for example, a mail in someone else's inbox or a post quoted in an alliance board).
11.4 Your responsibility. You are responsible for your content. You confirm that you have the right to post it and that it does not break the law or the Game Rules.
11.5 Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions about the game, we may use them freely without paying you or crediting you. This does not give us rights to anything you own outside the game.
11.6 No obligation to keep content. Chat messages, mail and notifications are kept only for limited periods, which are set out in the Privacy Policy. Keep your own copy of anything you want to save.
12. Content moderation, reporting and complaints
This section explains how we moderate content and how you can report content or challenge our decisions. It is written to meet the requirements of the EU Digital Services Act ("DSA") and the UK Online Safety Act 2023 ("OSA") where they apply to us.
12.1 What is not allowed. Illegal content is not allowed anywhere in the service. Nor is content that breaks these Terms or the Game Rules, even if it is legal.
12.2 How we moderate.
- People. Chat moderators and staff review reports and content. They can delete messages, posts and names, mute or suspend chat access, and ban players from chat. Staff can also suspend or close accounts (section 13).
- Tools. [CONFIRM: we use automated filters to block or flag certain words, spam and links.] The fair-play monitoring in section 10.2 flags unusual economic patterns for staff review. Automated tools may hide content or flag it for review, but decisions to suspend or close an account are made by a person.
- Proactive checks. Moderators may review public and alliance chat and boards, and may review a conversation's history when handling a report. We do not routinely read private messages, but we may review them when they are reported, or when we have a specific reason to suspect illegal content or a serious breach of the rules.
- What we consider. We act diligently, objectively and proportionately, with regard to the rights and legitimate interests of everyone involved, including freedom of expression.
12.3 Reporting illegal content or rule breaches. Anyone — including people without an account, who can use support@gloriousfactions.com — can report content they believe is illegal or breaks our rules. In the game, use Support → "Report a player". To help us act quickly, please include:
- why you believe the content is illegal or breaks our rules;
- where it is: the world, the channel or place (for example world chat, alliance board, mail), the player or alliance name, and the approximate time;
- your name and email address (you do not need to give these if you are reporting child sexual abuse material); and
- a statement that you believe in good faith that your report is accurate and complete.
We confirm receipt of reports made with contact details, review them promptly, and tell you what we decided and how you can challenge it.
12.4 Statement of reasons. If we remove or restrict your content, restrict your visibility or chat access, suspend or close your account, or restrict your use of paid features because of your content or behaviour, we will tell you — unless the content is high-volume commercial spam or a legal reason prevents it — and give you a clear statement of reasons that includes:
- what we did and how long it lasts;
- the facts and circumstances we relied on;
- whether we used automated means to detect the issue or to decide;
- the rule in these Terms or the Game Rules, or the law, that the decision is based on; and
- how you can challenge the decision.
12.5 Complaints and appeals. You can complain about a moderation decision, free of charge, for at least six months after you were told about it, through Support → new ticket in the game or at support@gloriousfactions.com. People who reported content can also complain about our decision on their report. A different member of staff from the one who made the original decision will review complaints; complaints are not decided by automated means alone. We will decide without undue delay, tell you the outcome and the reasons, and reverse the decision if it was wrong. The appeal steps and time frames are in the Game Rules.
12.6 Out-of-court dispute settlement. If you live in the EU, you may also take a moderation dispute to an out-of-court dispute settlement body certified under the DSA (Article 21). We will engage with such a body in good faith [COUNSEL TO CONFIRM SCOPE]. This does not affect your right to go to court.
12.7 Misuse of reporting. If someone frequently posts manifestly illegal content, we will suspend their account for a reasonable period after a warning. If someone frequently files manifestly unfounded reports or complaints, we may stop processing their reports for a reasonable period after a warning.
12.8 Threats to life or safety. If we become aware of information suggesting that a criminal offence threatening someone's life or safety has happened, is happening or is likely to happen, we will inform the relevant law enforcement or judicial authorities.
12.9 Contact points. Our contact points for users and for authorities, and the languages we use, are in the Legal Notice.
13. Sanctions, suspension and termination by us
13.1 When we may act. If you break these Terms, the Purchase Terms or the Game Rules, or the law, or if we reasonably suspect you have and need to protect other players or the service, we may take one or more of the following steps:
- issue a warning;
- remove or change your content or names;
- mute you or restrict your chat or mail;
- remove in-game advantages, resources, items or progress gained in breach of the rules, or reverse transactions;
- remove your empire from a world;
- temporarily suspend your account, or suspend it while we investigate; or
- permanently close your account and end this agreement.
13.2 Proportionate response. We choose the step that fits the breach, considering how serious it is, whether it was deliberate, whether it is repeated, and its effect on other players. The sanctions scale in the Game Rules explains what we normally do. For serious breaches — such as illegal content, cheating with bots, real-money trading, fraud, chargeback abuse or threats — we may close an account without prior warning.
13.3 Notice and appeal. We will tell you about a sanction and give a statement of reasons as described in section 12.4, unless the law or an investigation prevents it. You can challenge a sanction as described in section 12.5.
13.4 Other reasons to end the agreement. We may also end this agreement and close your account with at least [30] days' notice for a valid reason not related to your conduct — for example, at end of service (section 8.5), or if we are required to by law. Where we do so and you are not at fault, the Purchase Terms explain what happens to purchased content you have not used.
13.5 Effect of termination for breach. If we close your account for a breach, you lose access to it and to all content in it, including unused Sidereals, items and plans, without refund, except where the law requires otherwise (see the Purchase Terms). You may not create a new account without our written permission.
13.6 Ban evasion and the pillory. While a ban lasts, the game blocks the device, the browser on its connection and the email address the banned account used. Any other account that uses them is banned automatically for the same time (Game Rules 14.7). Suspended and banned accounts may be listed in the in-game pillory with a reason category and the dates (Game Rules 14.8). If you are caught by mistake, you can appeal as described in section 12.5.
14. Closing your account
14.1 You can leave at any time. You may stop using the service and end this agreement at any time. You can delete your account in the game's Account panel [CONFIRM: feature in development — export my data and delete my account, with a 7-day grace period] or by contacting support@gloriousfactions.com.
14.2 What happens. When your account is deleted, your empires are removed from or abandoned in their worlds, and you lose access to all content in the account, including unused Sidereals, items and plans. Purchases are not refunded when you close your account yourself, except where the law requires it (see the Purchase Terms). What data we keep after deletion is explained in the Privacy Policy.
15. Availability and warranties
15.1 Availability. We work to keep the service running well, but we cannot promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free or free from loss of game progress. Online games depend on networks, browsers, hosting providers and other things outside our control.
15.2 Rollbacks. If a serious error, bug or exploit corrupts game data, we may restore a world or account to an earlier state. Where this affects purchases, we will restore or replace the affected premium content [PLACEHOLDER: or re-credit the Sidereals spent].
15.3 EU/UK consumers. If you are an EU/UK consumer, the law gives you statutory rights when digital content or a digital service is not as described or not in conformity with the contract — for example, the right to have the problem fixed and, in some cases, a price reduction or refund. These rights apply in full and nothing in these Terms limits them.
15.4 Everyone else. If you are not an EU/UK consumer, and to the fullest extent allowed by the law that applies to you, the service is provided "as is" and "as available". We give no warranties or promises, express or implied, including about merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability or accuracy, other than those stated in these Terms and those the law does not allow us to exclude.
16. Liability
16.1 What we are always liable for. Wherever you live, nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence; or
- any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law that applies.
16.2 EU/UK consumers. If you are an EU/UK consumer:
- we are fully liable as set out in section 16.1;
- for damage caused by slight (ordinary) negligence, we are liable only if we breached an essential obligation — an obligation that makes proper performance of this agreement possible in the first place and on which you can normally rely (for example, giving you access to the game and to the premium content you paid for) — and then only for damage that was typical and foreseeable when the agreement was made;
- we remain liable under mandatory product liability laws and for your statutory rights described in section 15.3; and
- [COUNSEL TO ADAPT FOR UK: UK law does not use the essential-obligation concept; for UK consumers we are liable for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill, but not for loss that was not foreseeable, nor for business losses.]
16.3 Everyone else. If you are not an EU/UK consumer, and to the fullest extent allowed by law:
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill or game progress, even if we were told such damage was possible; and
- our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the service or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) US$[50].
Some jurisdictions (including some US states) do not allow certain of these limits. If they apply to you, the limits apply only as far as the law allows.
16.4 Other players. We are not responsible for what other players do or say in the game, except where the law makes us responsible or where we fail to act as these Terms say we will (for example, on a report under section 12).
17. Indemnity
17.1 Who this applies to. This section does not apply to EU/UK consumers or to consumers in Quebec.
17.2 Your promise. To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Ananta Studios, RLM Global and their officers, employees and agents from claims, losses, liabilities and reasonable costs (including reasonable legal fees) brought by third parties that arise from your breach of these Terms, your content, or your misuse of the service. We will tell you promptly about any such claim, and you may take part in the defence with counsel of your choice at your own cost.
18. Changes to these Terms
18.1 Why we may change them. We may change these Terms, the Purchase Terms and the Game Rules — for example, to reflect changes to the game, to our business, or to the law, or to make them clearer.
18.2 Notice of material changes. If a change is material and affects you negatively, we will tell you at least six weeks before it takes effect, by email and in the game. The notice will explain what is changing, when, your right to object, and what happens if you do.
18.3 Your right to object. You may object to the change before it takes effect by writing to legal@gloriousfactions.com or through the Support panel, and you may close your account at any time and free of charge before the change takes effect. [COUNSEL TO CHOOSE: (a) If you object, the old Terms continue to apply to you and we may then end this agreement with [30] days' notice; OR (b) If you object, the agreement ends when the change takes effect.] If you keep using the service after the change takes effect without objecting, the new Terms apply to you. [COUNSEL NOTE: deemed acceptance is restricted under some EU consumer laws; see Notes for counsel.]
18.4 Changes that apply immediately. Changes needed for legal or regulatory reasons, to fix security problems, or to deal with fraud or abuse may take effect immediately or with shorter notice. Changes that only benefit you, or are purely editorial, may take effect when published.
18.5 Old versions. We keep earlier versions of these Terms available at [ARCHIVE URL].
19. Notices and communications
19.1 How we contact you. We may send you notices by email to the address on your account, by in-game mail or messages, or by a notice on the website or in the game. Notices by email count as received when sent, unless we learn they were not delivered.
19.2 Service messages. We will send you messages that are necessary to run your account and the service (for example, sign-up confirmation, password resets, purchase receipts, changes to these Terms). These are not marketing.
19.3 How you contact us. You can reach us through the in-game Support panel, at support@gloriousfactions.com for player support, or at legal@gloriousfactions.com for legal notices, including arbitration opt-outs and notices of dispute. Our postal address is in the Legal Notice.
20. Disputes and governing law
20.1 Talk to us first
Most problems can be fixed quickly. Before starting any formal claim, please contact Support. If that does not resolve it, either of us must send the other a written notice of dispute — to legal@gloriousfactions.com (for you) or to your account email address (for us) — with your name, username and account email, a description of the problem, and what you want. We will both try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for 60 days after the notice is received, and either of us may ask for a call during that time. Time limits for bringing a claim are paused during this period. This step does not stop EU/UK consumers or Quebec consumers from going to court or to a public authority at any time.
20.2 Governing law
These Terms and any dispute about them or the service are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and, for the arbitration agreement in section 20.4, the US Federal Arbitration Act. However:
- if you are a consumer living in the EU/EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Quebec, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country (or province) where you live, and the choice of Kansas law does not take those protections away; and
- if you are a consumer living anywhere else, any consumer law of your place of residence that cannot be excluded by contract still applies.
20.3 EU/EEA, UK, Swiss and Quebec consumers
If you are a consumer living in the EU/EEA, the UK, Switzerland or Quebec:
- section 20.4 (arbitration and class-action waiver) does not apply to you;
- you may bring a claim against us in the courts of the place where you live or in the courts of Kansas, and we may bring a claim against you only in the courts of the place where you live;
- you may use any consumer dispute resolution scheme or public authority available to you under your local law; and
- the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform closed on 20 July 2025 and is no longer available. Our position on consumer arbitration boards is stated in the Legal Notice.
20.4 Arbitration agreement for the United States and Canada
Please read this section carefully. It affects how disputes are resolved and includes a waiver of class actions and jury trials. You can opt out within 30 days (section 20.4.9).
20.4.1 Who it applies to. This section applies if you live in the United States or Canada, except consumers living in Quebec [COUNSEL TO CONFIRM: and any other province or territory, such as Ontario or Alberta, whose law does not allow pre-dispute arbitration agreements in consumer contracts to be enforced against consumers]. If you move, the section applies according to where you lived when the dispute arose.
20.4.2 What it covers. You and we agree to resolve any dispute, claim or controversy between us that arises out of or relates to these Terms, the service, any purchase or our relationship ("dispute") by final and binding individual arbitration, rather than in court, except as set out in section 20.4.3. Questions about whether a dispute must be arbitrated are decided by the arbitrator, except that a court decides questions about sections 20.4.6 (class waiver) and 20.4.7 (mass arbitration) and about whether this section can be enforced.
20.4.3 What is not covered. Either of us may instead:
- bring an individual claim in small claims court in the county where you live or in [COUNTY] County, Kansas, as long as it stays in small claims court and is not a class or representative action;
- ask a court for an order to stop actual or threatened infringement or misuse of intellectual property rights; and
- report matters to a government agency, which may seek relief on your behalf.
20.4.4 How arbitration works. The arbitration will be administered by [ARBITRATION PROVIDER: the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules / National Arbitration and Mediation ("NAM") under its Comprehensive Dispute Resolution Rules and Procedures and, where applicable, its Mass Filing Supplemental Rules], as modified by this section. The rules are available at [PROVIDER URL]. For Canadian residents, [COUNSEL TO SELECT: a Canadian provider or rules, if more appropriate]. There is one neutral arbitrator. Hearings take place by video or telephone unless the arbitrator decides an in-person hearing is needed, in which case it takes place in the county where you live or another place we both agree. For claims of US$[10,000] or less, you may choose to have the arbitration decided on written submissions only. The arbitrator may award the same individual damages and relief a court could, applying the governing law, and must give a written decision explaining the essential findings. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
20.4.5 Fees. We pay all filing, administration and arbitrator fees that the provider's consumer rules assign to the business. If the provider's rules require you to pay a filing fee, we will reimburse it [PLACEHOLDER: or the part that exceeds the filing fee you would pay to bring the claim in court] after the arbitration begins, unless the arbitrator finds your claim was frivolous or brought for an improper purpose. Each side pays its own lawyers' fees, unless the arbitrator awards them under applicable law. We will not seek our legal fees from you unless the arbitrator finds your claim was frivolous.
20.4.6 Class-action and jury waiver. You and we may bring disputes against each other only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, consolidated or representative action or arbitration. The arbitrator may not combine more than one person's claims (except as set out in section 20.4.7) and may award relief only in favour of the individual party seeking it and only as far as needed for that party's individual claim. You and we waive any right to a jury trial. If a court decides that this paragraph cannot be enforced for a particular claim or type of relief (for example, public injunctive relief), that claim or relief will be decided by a court in the place set out in section 20.4.10, after all arbitrable claims have been arbitrated, and the court case will be paused until then.
20.4.7 Mass arbitration. If 25 or more similar demands for arbitration are filed against us, or by us, by or with the help of the same or coordinated lawyers or organisations, the following applies in addition to the provider's mass-filing rules:
- the demands are administered in batches of up to [50], with one arbitrator per batch [COUNSEL TO CHOOSE: or a bellwether process in which a first set of cases is decided before the rest proceed];
- filing and administration fees are charged per batch as the provider's rules allow, and we still pay the business share of fees under section 20.4.5;
- the next batch starts once the earlier batch is resolved, unless we agree otherwise; and
- time limits for bringing the claims in the later batches are paused while they wait.
Both of us agree to cooperate in good faith with the provider to resolve mass filings efficiently. A court may resolve disputes about whether this paragraph applies.
20.4.8 Informal resolution required. The informal resolution step in section 20.1 must be completed before either of us starts an arbitration. If the provider requires it, the person bringing the claim must certify that it was completed.
20.4.9 Your right to opt out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending an email to legal@gloriousfactions.com within 30 days after you first accept these Terms (or, if you already had an account, within 30 days after you first accept a version of these Terms containing this section), with the subject line "Arbitration opt-out", stating your name, username, the email address on your account and that you opt out of arbitration. Opting out does not affect any other part of these Terms, and it does not affect any earlier arbitration agreement you had with us that you did not opt out of. If you opt out, section 20.4.10 applies to disputes between us.
20.4.10 Courts. Any dispute not subject to arbitration (including because you opted out) will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in [COUNTY] County, Kansas, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction, except where the law of your place of residence gives you the right to sue in your local courts.
20.4.11 Future changes. If we change this section after you accept it, the change will not apply to a dispute that either of us had already notified to the other before the change. You may reject a future change to this section by emailing legal@gloriousfactions.com within 30 days of the change taking effect; the version you last accepted will then continue to apply.
20.4.12 Severability within this section. If any part of this section 20.4 (other than section 20.4.6) is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If section 20.4.6 is found wholly unenforceable for a dispute, the whole of section 20.4 does not apply to that dispute, which will go to court under section 20.4.10.
20.5 Time limit for claims (outside the EU/UK)
If you are not an EU/UK consumer or a Quebec consumer, and to the extent permitted by the law that applies to you, any claim must be brought within [one year] after it arises, or it is permanently barred. [COUNSEL TO CONFIRM enforceability per state.]
21. General terms
21.1 Severability. If any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in force, and the invalid part is replaced by a valid provision that comes as close as possible to its intended effect (except as set out in section 20.4.12).
21.2 Assignment. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to a company in the RLM Global group, or to a buyer of the game or its business, provided that your rights under these Terms are not reduced. We will tell you if this happens; EU/UK consumers may close their account if they do not agree. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms.
21.3 Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the documents listed in section 1.3, are the whole agreement between you and us about the service and replace any earlier agreements about it.
21.4 No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. A waiver only counts if it is in writing.
21.5 Events beyond our control. We are not responsible for failures or delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages of hosting, payment or network providers, power or internet failures, cyber attacks, natural disasters, epidemics, war, government action or labour disputes. We will try to limit the effect on you and restore the service as soon as reasonably possible. This does not affect the statutory rights of EU/UK consumers.
21.6 Language. These Terms are written in English. If we provide a translation, it is for convenience only, and the English version prevails if there is a conflict, except where the law of your country requires otherwise.
21.7 Survival. Sections that by their nature should continue after this agreement ends — including sections 4.2, 9.3, 11.3 (to the extent stated), 13.5, 15, 16, 17, 20 and 21 — continue after it ends.
21.8 No third-party rights. Nobody other than you and us has rights under these Terms, except that RLM Global and our officers, employees and agents may rely on sections 16 and 17.
21.9 Relationship. Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, employment or agency relationship between you and us.

Notes for counsel
Internal — remove before publication. The items that most need legal review:
- Undisclosed computer-controlled players (section 2). The owner's decision is per-world disclosure plus this section, without individual labelling. Please assess against: the California BOT Act (Bus. & Prof. Code §§17940–17943 — bars using a bot to mislead about its artificial identity to incentivise a sale or influence a vote; the "no selling / never claim to be human" guardrails are aimed at this); EU AI Act Article 50(1) (obligation, applicable since 2 August 2026, to inform people they are interacting with an AI system unless obvious — consider whether rule-based bots fall outside the Article 3(1) "AI system" definition because they do not infer, and whether per-world disclosure is enough); the EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive and UK DMCC Act 2024 (misleading omissions — e.g. whether hidden bots influence purchase decisions such as buying protection when attacked by one, and whether bot-led alliances inviting paying players is material); and the EU CPC Network key principles on in-game virtual currencies (2025). Confirm the implementation of "never claim to be human" (2.4).
- Arbitration enforceability (section 20.4). Choose AAA or NAM and confirm the current consumer and mass-arbitration rules and fees; confirm the batching clause, bellwether option, small-claims carve-out and the public-injunctive-relief (McGill) fallback; Kansas law on the clause and the one-year limitation period (20.5); and Canada — Quebec is excluded, but Ontario (Consumer Protection Act) and Alberta may also invalidate consumer arbitration and class waivers; decide whether to exclude all of Canada or list provinces. Consider sign-up UI requirements for assent (clickwrap with conspicuous notice of arbitration).
- EU/UK representatives and DSA contact points. As a non-EU provider we likely need a GDPR Art. 27 EU representative, a UK GDPR Art. 27 representative, and a DSA Art. 13 legal representative in an EU member state; confirm whether Ananta qualifies as a micro/small enterprise (DSA Art. 19 relieves those of the internal complaint system (Art. 20) and other online-platform duties, though we offer appeals anyway) and confirm section 12.6 (Art. 21 engagement). See the Legal Notice.
- Withdrawal waiver for digital content (see Purchase Terms). Confirm the checkout flow (express request + acknowledgement + durable-medium confirmation) satisfies CRD Art. 16(m) and UK CCR 2013 reg. 37; the withdrawal function (CRD Art. 11a, from 19 June 2026); and whether spending Sidereals on advisor plans or items forms a separate contract with its own withdrawal right.
- Auto-renewal laws. Advisor plans renew from the Sidereals balance, not a card. Confirm whether the California Automatic Renewal Law (Bus. & Prof. Code §17600 et seq., as amended by AB 2863, effective July 2025), other US state ARLs and the FTC's position apply to renewals paid in virtual currency; Germany §312k BGB (cancellation button for online continuing obligations); and the UK DMCC Act 2024 subscription-contract regime (check commencement status).
- Liability and warranty wording (sections 15–16). The EU clause follows the German "cardinal obligation" model — confirm it for other EU states and adapt for the UK (Consumer Rights Act 2015, unfair-terms rules). Confirm the US$[50] cap and Kansas Consumer Protection Act limits on disclaimers; confirm the indemnity exclusions (section 17).
- Changes to Terms (section 18). German case law (BGH, 27 April 2021, XI ZR 26/20) limits deemed-consent clauses for consumers; choose option (a) or (b) and decide whether material changes need active acceptance in the EU.
- DSA / UK Online Safety Act duties (section 12). Confirm the section meets DSA Arts. 14, 16, 17, 18, 20 and 23 as applicable, and the OSA's illegal-content duties, terms-of-service requirements (s.10), reporting and complaints duties (ss.20–21) and record-keeping; confirm whether an illegal-content risk assessment and children's access assessment are needed (16+ users; UK players aged 16–17 are children under the OSA).
- Age 16 and minors. Contracts with 16–17-year-olds can be voidable in many jurisdictions; confirm the parental-consent wording (3.2) and purchase controls, and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code.
- Placeholders to fill: entity details, emails, county, arbitration provider, cap amount, sitter limits, activity definition, filter tools.
